Marketing Placement Opportunities 2022/23

12 month placement role, based in Plymouth or remote. Starting date: Spring 2022.

We have helped our clients deliver new online services to their citizens from ferry disruptions, improved waste collection solutions to track and trace systems, as well complex integration into various 3rd party systems.

We are looking for a Marketing Placement Student to join our team.

The Role

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and hard-working placement student with a keen interest in marketing, PR and social media. During your placement, and under the guidance of the Marketing Manager, you will provide support and assistance in delivering the day-to-day marketing tasks and projects at GOSS. You will also play an important part in creating and distributing marketing communications externally to our audiences in local and central government, police and healthcare. During your placement you will work closely with various teams at GOSS including those in Sales, Creative and Product Management.

Over the course of your placement your responsibilities will include the planning, creating, and scheduling monthly marketing content across various channels including email and social media as well as writing blog posts about the various themes applicable to GOSS's audiences. You will be creating marketing emails using our marketing automation system to promote GOSS and writing and posting engaging social media content across our social media platforms. You will help investigate and organise potential industry exhibitions and conferences. You will have involvement in updating and bringing consistency to the GOSS brand and product portfolio whilst also researching and analysing market, industry and competitor trends with a view to help inform the overall GOSS product strategy. You will also contribute to maintaining an accurate and up-to-date database of clients and prospects in-line with GDPR using our CRM system.

The Person

We are looking for somebody with a love for marketing and/or communications. You may have also had experience in delivering marketing, advertising, communications and/or social media campaigns.

You should be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, have a confident ability in research and data analytics, and have high attention to detail, creative skills and a need for consistency.

Having an enthusiasm for new technologies and digital self-service is not essential, but preferred.


You should either be studying or have recently received a degree (or equivalent) in marketing or a related discipline, and/or industry experience in a relevant field.

  • Phase 1: CV submission will close on 17 December 2021 with initial interviews taking place in January 2022
  • Phase 2: Those who pass the initial interview will then be invited to take part in a second interview taking place in February/March 2022

Interview details

Initial interviews will be via telephone/Microsoft Teams with our Marketing Manager. If successful you will be invited to attend an interview at the GOSS offices in Plymouth or online via Microsoft Teams, which will last approximately 1 hour.
