Sarah Youen

Head of Creative

How long have you been at GOSS?: Eight years.

What do you do at GOSS?: Head of Creative.

What has been your greatest achievement so far at GOSS?: Torn between making our products and website themes accessible to our client's users and creating my first website theme GOSS Cruise.

What's the best thing about working at GOSS?: The people are what make GOSS an amazing place to work.

Favourite motto/quote?: Never lose your loveliness - my Nan's favourite phrase.

What is your guilty pleasure?: Ready salted crisps and chocolate at the same time - pure bliss.

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?:

  1. An unlimited supply of insulin as I am Type 1 Diabetic, so better take that.
  2. A tango ice blast machine in case my blood sugar crashes, they are perfect in the sun.
  3. Tom Hanks as he has experience pretending to be stuck on an island plus also a diabetic buddy.

Simon Mutton

Technical Team Leader and Senior Software Engineer

How long have you been at GOSS?: Long enough that if we were all still regularly attending the office I think I'd be considered part of the furniture now. I went past the 10 year mark several years ago!

What do you do at GOSS?: I'm a senior software developer who works on the product and framework implementation side of GOSS's frontend, treading that fine line that could be labelled full-stack.

What has been your greatest achievement so far at GOSS?: I find this a very difficult question, since I see everything I achieve as a work in progress and ever-evolving. Perhaps most recently turning my relatively quick and dirty proof-of-concept template porting the panels feature of our Impact theme into the fully fledged Panel template. Or maybe the push to rebuild much of our frontend offering as shared components in order to make it easier for us to meet the ever progressing accessibility landscape our sites need to navigate.

What's the best thing about working at GOSS?: Being trusted to do a good job combined with a fairly flexible and laidback atmosphere. This and having great people to work with.

What is your guilty pleasure?: I'm not sure I feel guilty about it, but I do like to continue a days-of-office tradition of Fast Food Friday, only by myself.

Favourite place in the world?: The world is a big place, but I can recommend a couple of stretches of Dartmoor that offer a lot  - the regions between Merrivale and Burrator or between Grimspound and Emsworthy Mire. (I think I'd happily go and live in Iceland or Scotland too though.)

Margo Nsana

Front End Web Developer

How long have you been at GOSS?: Since March 2023.

What do you do at GOSS?: I'm a Front End Web Developer.

What has been your greatest achievement so far at GOSS?: I've been involved in supporting in the redesign of several websites for clients and it's been exciting to help clients refresh their websites.

What's the best thing about working at GOSS?: The overall environment. The people are great and very supportive. There's also so much variety in the work I do.

If you could become any animal, which animal would it be?: It's got to be something colourful, so a peacock.

Favourite place in the world?: Finland. Preferably in the summer though.
