GOSS at 25
Find out what the GOSSlings got up to to celebrate the GOSS's 25th anniversary.
Last week, we celebrated GOSS's 25th anniversary in style, bringing the whole team together for a well-earned reward. GOSS is now officially older than some of our employees and so a quarter century of hard work deserved a fitting celebration to match the milestone and give everyone a time they wouldn't forget!
The day began with a morning coffee at the Boathouse Cafe in Plymouth, GOSS's home city, where a few GOSSlings even made the trip all the way from Blackpool to join in the fun. Soon after, we set sail for Drake's Island - a historic military fortress with nearly 1000 years of rich history. Upon arrival, the group was split into two teams for a guided tour of the island. One of the first questions that sparked a bit of playful rivalry was whether the island was Cornish or Devonian, setting the tone for a day full of fun and discovery.
The island tour took us through a fascinating exploration of the old barracks, historic cannons, eerie underground tunnels, and the storied magazines. Afterward, we gathered for lunch in the magazines, which offered stunning views of the Plymouth Breakwater. Lunch featured an array of delicious wraps, sandwiches, cheeseboards, and of course, tea and coffee paired with classic Rich Tea biscuits - #Essential!
With everyone refuelled, it was time for the highly anticipated island scavenger hunt. True to GOSS tradition, the competition was fierce, with most GOSSlings grouping together into their internal departmental teams. After about 20 minutes of dashing around the island, the Sales and Marketing team emerged victorious, discovering the hidden treasure, as captured in the images below. After this everyone was ferried back to the mainland where we then reconvened a couple hours later for the evening event.
For the evening celebration, the GOSS Team was treated to an unforgettable three-course meal and drinks at Plymouth's, National Marine Aquarium, with the entire lower floor open for exploration. This included the renowned Atlantic Ocean tank - the deepest in the UK and featuring four species of shark. Once everyone had arrived and had the chance to explore the aquarium, we gathered in front of the impressive Eddystone tank for a three-course meal accompanied by an open bar.
As the night drew to a close, it was clear that GOSS's 25th anniversary was a celebration worthy of the milestone. From exploring the history-rich Drake's Island to dining among sharks at the National Marine Aquarium, the day perfectly captured the spirit of GOSS - adventurous, competitive, and always up for a good time. It was a fitting tribute to the dedication and hard work that has driven the company for a quarter of a century, and a reminder of the exciting future that still lies ahead. Here's to the next 25 years of success, innovation, and, of course, plenty more unforgettable celebrations!
