What do you get up to at GOSS?

I work in the Sales and Marketing Team, as a Graduate Marketing Executive. My day-to-day often involves sorting out social and email marketing comms as well as general brand awareness and content design.

What inspired you to apply for a graduate position at GOSS?

During my placement year, I discussed the possibility of joining back as a graduate as I had really enjoyed my time at the company, and I felt like I could continue to progress my career by coming back after graduating from university. During my final year at university, I kept in touch with the Head of Marketing and was made aware of a graduate marketing position of which I applied for and received the job offer.

How do you feel GOSS has prepared you for your future career?

Starting my career journey with GOSS has been a pivotal experience. It was my first step into the professional world, where I not only explored the field of marketing but also made significant strides in building my confidence—an essential skill for effective teamwork. During my time here, both as a placement student and now as a graduate, I've mastered the Adobe Suite to a high standard, a critical asset in the marketing industry.

What do you enjoy most about the work culture at GOSS?

The people, everyone has been so friendly and supportive from the beginning, no one will ever turn you down for asking a simple question. The social side of the culture is also superb! GOSS hosts a variety of events both inside and outside the office, the latest one being the 'GOSS' Olympics which was great fun!

Would you recommend taking a placement year?

Completing a placement year has been one of the best decisions I've made. It provided me with a year of professional experience that sets me apart from those with a traditional three-year undergraduate degree. This opportunity not only enhanced my skill set but also enabled me to secure employment upon graduation. Throughout the year, I developed valuable expertise in the marketing industry, including content design and proficiency with tools such as the Adobe Suite, Pardot, and Salesforce.

Can you share any specific ideas or projects you're excited to work on now that you're back?

When I left during my placement year, I had just started working on engagement programmes for the sales and marketing funnel. I am looking forward to creating content for the funnel and creating new programmes for our prospects and clients.

What new skills or knowledge did you gain during your degree that you are excited to apply here?

Throughout my final year of university there was an emphasis on different forms of marketing, including podcast creation and video creation. I am looking forward to the possibility of creating a podcast series for GOSS as well as creating both long and short form video content for the GOSS social media channels.

What did you miss most about working here while you were away?

The people! Working with the Sales and Marketing team as well as the rest of the business was such a great experience for me. Going back to university to a new cohort was very difficult after having such a fantastic year out with fantastic people. The social events arranged by the Great team were also missed, especially the escape rooms.

Why did you choose to come back and work at GOSS?

After having such a positive experience during my placement, I knew that GOSS would be such a great place to go back to at the start of my marketing career. On top of this the benefits they offer like remote work and flexible working give me the freedom to work from different places in the UK.
